Along the Sound
Several Stamford neighborhoods enjoy fantastic views of Long Island Sound.
East Side, easily accessible via Interstate 95, features a balance between low-key homes and luxurious residences. The Cove, where you can find sprawling Cove Island Park, features a blend of modest homes and grander estates the closer you get to the shore. Diverse Shippan has an array of restaurants and retail businesses that reflect the neighborhood’s rich multicultural heritage. As for genteel Shippan Point, it’s one of Stamford’s wealthiest communities and it’s where you can find gracious and elegant estates overlooking the Sound.
South of Downtown Stamford
The area located just south of Downtown is generally known as South End, where you can find smaller neighborhoods, mixed-use buildings, and residential properties. It’s a delightful community; and the South End Historic District is included on the National Register of Historic Places.
Waterside is one of Stamford’s older neighborhoods, and its quiet, familiar streets are home to multi-family residences. The community has undergone numerous redevelopment and revitalization efforts.
From Waterside, venture a little to the north to the community of West Side, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Connecticut. Families and professionals flock to this enclave as Long Island Sound is just a short walk from West Side, while Manhattan is approximately 30 miles northeast of the neighborhood.
Boaters prefer the laid-back atmosphere and the Colonial-style homes over at Dolphin Cove, where street names were heavily inspired by a nautical theme. Its access to a deep lagoon that can capably dock large boats makes it more attractive to seafarers.
Harbor Point is billed as one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods. Its redevelopment has seen its transformation from an underused industrial waterfront area to a thriving neighborhood full of office spaces, apartments, and great shopping and dining.
North of Downtown Stamford
Roxbury is part of the city’s more rustic persona as is located in an area that is less densely developed than the rest of the city. There are single-family residences aplenty in this quiet neighborhood.
Our last, but certainly not the least neighborhood is Westover, situated west of Roxbury. One of the city’s older sections, the neighborhood has a fine collection of well-built homes. The landscape is beautiful as well, for it’s in Westover where you can find the Mianus River Park, a popular haven for hikers, bikers, and anglers.
