Do-it-yourself home staging ideas

November 2nd, 2017 | Higgins Group Real Estate

When you’re making your home available on the market, preparation and presentation are keys to landing a great offer. One of the best ways to make your home appeal to the most number of buyers is through staging.

DIY Home Staging

While staging may seem like an expensive and time-consuming process, it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few hassle-free and affordable ways that can help you whip your house into shape:

Buy new window treatments

Look for modern, breezy window treatments to replace your old, heavy drapes. Simple window treatments can help make any space appear brighter and larger. Look for floor-length curtains which you can use to hang from the ceiling, instead of the top edge of your window frame.

Deep clean your interiors

A home with a dirty bathroom or a dreary looking kitchen will not entice any prospective buyers. Clean every nook and cranny in your home, but be sure not to overdo it by using too much cleaning solutions. Strong cleaning smells might make it seem like you’re hiding something – use scented candles or freshly baked goodies and place them on your kitchen counter instead.

Buy fresh, clean white towels for your bathroom

Go for a monochromatic look for your bathroom. Use all-white towels which can add a spa-like feeling of freshness, instead of colored ones that can make your bathroom appear heavy.

Install mirrors

Adding mirrors is a neat trick that can make cramped spaces look more spacious and brighter. It can add a touch of elegance to any room as well.

Reorganize your shelves and bookcases

Add a touch of style by reorganizing your bookshelves. If they’re completely filled with books, take out about 25% from your collection and change it up by stacking some horizontally and some vertically. Add a few elegant trinkets and knickknacks as well, which can be used as accents and bookends that add character.
