Budget-friendly ways for upgrading your living room

August 15th, 2017 | Higgins Group Real Estate

Giving your living room a new look doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are a couple of ways you can keep your living room looking fresh, no matter the season, without breaking the bank.

Budget Friendly DIY

  1. Get a new couch.

One way to significantly update the look of your living room without having to change up too many of its elements is to invest in a new couch. Depending on the type, this might require you to make a rather hefty purchase (literally and figuratively), but the perfect sofa for your living room will instantly liven up the space.

  2. Reorganize and edit your living room decor.

Spend a day in your living room and consider all of your decor. By giving this room some TLC, you can instantly update the look of your home. Take your time to go through the items and edit or reorganize decor to your liking. Curate your bookshelf, change your throw pillows’ cases, or update the flower arrangement.

  3. Hide all the wires behind a nice media console.

A mess of jumbled cords can create visual stress. Hide this from sight by tucking the wires in a media console that also fits your living room’s overall aesthetic.

  4. Hang an oversized mirror across from a window.

Aside from making a space feel significantly larger, hanging an oversized mirror directly across from your windows also helps make the space feel lighter and airy. You’re letting in more natural light into the living room and, at the same time, sprucing up the wall.

  5. Invest in or change your area rug.

Area rugs are great, regardless of your living room’s space. If the area is small, area rugs will make the room feel larger. Meanwhile, area rugs in larger rooms can act as some sort of division and adds perspective to the space.
