Middle Schools in Fairfield County CT

Fairfield County is home to over 120 middle schools, with around 47 public and 70 private middle schools. Combined, these schools serve a total of around 50,000 students.

Public Schools

Minority enrollment for public middle schools is 32%. According to a study which ranked nearly 20,000 middle schools nationwide, the public middle schools in Fairfield County are some of the best in the state, with many of them ranking in the top 50 middle schools in Connecticut.

More impressive is the fact that the top eight out of the best ten middle schools in the state, as ranked by Niche.com, are all within Fairfield County. Saxe Middle School in New Canaan was ranked #1, followed by Bedford Middle School in Westport, and East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield.

Several Fairfield County public middle schools were also given scores of 9 and 10 from GreatSchools.org. These are among the highest scores a school can receive, and is based on data that measure several factors such as test scores, academic growth, and college readiness.

You can find both non-sectarian and religiously-affiliated private middle schools in Fairfield County. Roman Catholic and Christian schools make up the majority of the religiously-affiliated middle schools.
