Fairfield County Best Craft Breweries
This year’s week-long celebration is scheduled for May 16-22, but if you can’t wait that long, Fairfield County has numerous craft breweries where you can find and enjoy your favorite beverage all year long.
Two Roads Brewing Company
Housed in the historic U.S. Baird building along Stratford Avenue in Stratford, Two Roads Brewing Company transformed the 100-year-old structure into a thriving brewery featuring their selection of year-round, seasonal, and special craft beers with unique names like Lil’ Heaven Session IPA, Road Jam Raspberry Wheat, Route of All Evil with Hot Peppers, and more.
Visitors can go on a tour of the brewery and its facilities, which include a tasting room and a company store that sells clothing, caps, glassware, and accessories. The brewery also has an outdoor beer garden that’s open in the summer on Thursdays through Sundays, and it also hosts private events and outdoor festivals on its 6.6-acre site.
Half Full Brewery
This compact brewery on Homestead Avenue in Stamford makes an assortment of craft beers, ranging from their Inspirational Series to their seasonal and limited release beverages. Visitors can go on guided tours of the brewery and visit the Tasting Room, with an Open House-style event held every other Friday that also features local Food Trucks providing a wide range of eats.
Lock City Brewing Company
Still in development, Lock City Brewing Company takes its name from the Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company, an innovative producer of locks which was based in Stamford. The upcoming brewery’s goal is to “not only reinvent simple and full flavored craft brewed beer, but also to create a sense of community through craft brewing education, innovation, activities/festivals, and community ownership.”
Lock City Brewing presently makes a core group of seven year-round beers, with seasonal and special beers. Their actual brewery is taking shape along Research Drive, and when completed before the end of the year, will house about 7.5 barrels for brewing, six fermenters, and a taproom that will seat about 25 to 30 people. In the meantime, you can enjoy their craft beers in events and festivals held throughout Fairfield County.
Veracious Brewing Company
Named as one of the top 33 new breweries in the United States by Beer Advocate Magazine, Veracious Brewing Company can be found along Main Street in Monroe. According to the company, their name “refers to the brewery’s mission to produce honest, well-crafted beers made with quality ingredients.”
Veracious currently has eleven beers on tap. They also have eight wines for sale by the glass and serve cold brewed coffee on nitrogen. Visitors can sign up for brewery tours and visit their taproom that was designed and built with the inviting and comfortable feel of an English pub in mind.
